Who is S2O?

S2O was formed to provide clients with professional engineering services that are provided by trained experts in their fields and are also expert Whitewater Boaters.  Designers like Chief Engineer Scott Shipley, who is both a three-time World Cup Champion and has two degrees in Mechanical Engineering, allow us to provide expert solutions that specifically target the lifestyle, culture, and discerning tastes of whitewater boaters.

This combination of design talent and lifestyle expertise permeates our design process.  Our business planning is not simply done by some ex-boater or coach who claims to understand business, it is done by former national team member Will Peterman, who is a phd candidate in economics and who regularly consults as an expert witness in cases involving business planning. Will is an industry leader in both boating and business modelling and planning.  Other industry leaders include Gary Lacy, P.E. and National Team Member, Shane Sigle, M.S.C.E., and National Team Member, and Mike Harvey, CFM and Laura Jorgensen, sponsored freestyle athlete and National Team member respectively. By utilizing these uniquely qualified candidates to plan, conceptualize, design, and create our projects we are able to, in a highly efficient manner, create whitewater parks that are, in their very DNA...BOATER-parks.  These parks, such as the US National Whitewater Center, have become flagship parks that host National Teams, International Events, and thousands of visitors each year. These visitors come from all over the world to experience, time and time again, the uniquely genuine experience of boating on real whitewater within Charlotte's city limits.
